The Ecology Center, a Michigan-based nonprofit organization, released the results of their testing of 1,200 popular children’s toys for toxic chemicals at HealthyToys.org.News are inundated with all of the toy recalls and it is becoming increasingly difficult to shop for toys. As a parent I feel this is a great database of healthy toys and I’d make sure I browse this site before buying anything this holiday season. The announcemnt says 47% percent of toys (excluding jewelry) is tested by HealthyToys.
Recently the American Academy of Pediatrics recommended a level of 40 parts per million (ppm) of lead as the maximum that should be allowed in children’s products.
Here is the screenshot of one toy that I did search by name “Toys R Us” and found the toy I want to check on the lead ratings. Also if you don’t find the info you are looking on any toy, you can send them info.
