The countries around the globe taking different measures in these tough economic times caused by the global financial crisis. Australia government is eying on $31 billion (AUS $$) owed to workers in holiday pay so that that workers can spend that money on tourism, dining and other holiday spending to stimulate the Australian economy.
Here is the Australian “take holiday” news link :
Tourism officials are banking on a new advertising campaign in 22 countries, on the back of the new film “Australia” starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, which urges tourists to escape the rat race at home and lose themselves in Australia.
We will probably see more campaigns soon from US (US already gave 2008 tax refunds stimulus payments and second stimulus payment is still in discussions and will mostly be approved by President Obama) , China (announced a bigger stimulus package in recent months), India and other European countries.
