ByeBye to Google – Video, Notebook, Catalog Search, Dodgeball & Mashup Editor

What a day with spate of bad news after bad news – Apple founder going on leave of absence, Microsoft exploring first ever layoff of its employees and Google cutting off 100 recruiters and contractors.

In different blog posts today, Google announced slashing some of its less used apps – Video, Notebook, Catalog Search, Jaiku changes , Dodgeball & Mashup Editor.

Google Video – No more video uploads to Google Video, Use YouTube or Picasa for video hosting. But already hosted Google Videos are available for viewing

Google Catalog Search – Google now using OCR on Google Books instad of Catalogs.

Google Notebook – No more new users, Existing users can still do the webclipping. “Google Notebook Extension for browsers will no longer work” – This is intersting to see if its for existing or new users ?

Jaiku – A micro blogging service still struggling with behemoths like Twitter and Frienfeed.

Dodgeball – Connect with people by near location via cell phones

Google Mashup Editor – Now use App Engine
