The cumbersome process of various forms to apply for Non Immigrant Visas (NIV) is now eliminated and reduced to just one single form DS-160. Earlier for H1-B visas and Visitor Visas , applicants has to submit multiple forms (DS-156, DS-157, DS-158, DS0156E and DS-156K) and print them and take it to US Consulate in India.

With the new online process, all that applicants need is just submit DS-160 online and just take the confirmation page with them to US consulate. Also new online application can accepts applicant photos. But remaining process like scheduling dates and using HDFC to pay application fees remain unchanged.
