Fast Bowlers Injuries vs No Runner Rule Changing Game Dynamics

ICC announced a little back that no by-runners will be allowed in international cricket which is creating issues for the team captains to under utilize all rounder potential of the players. New Zealand Captain Taylor doesn’t want Ryder to bowl fearing that based on track record he gets injured and instead wants him to use as a batsman. The only test match for Zimbabwe and New Zealand is risked with injuries for two sides. Zimbabwe will be missing the services of Tatenda Taibu and left-arm seamer Brian Vitori.

The controversy started when England Strauss disallowed runner for South Africa’s Smith in 2009 ICC Champions Trophy citing the progressive cramps are part of the game. Eventually South Africa were booted out of the trophy.

The ICC rule “No Runners” rule prompted BCCI to buy a special software called “Injury Profiler” from Infosys to track down all player’s injuries and the rehab care.
